...Its been so long, but heres an update!

Well its been a few (too many) months since Ive been on here to update my blog, but i thought I could start again since i have some extra time on my hands! There have been so many changes in my life since last August. I worked for Landcare Aviation traveling a photoing mostly up and down the Eastern Seaboard. I dated a guy I was working with and although I am not with him now, I am still very much in love. I am now working for Air Wisconsin...we fly for US Airways Express. I am based in Norfollk, Va. I moved there in September and I love it. I am renting a cute little apartment right on the beach and I got to paint the whole thing. Aqua living room, pink bedroom and yellow kitchen. Its very beachy and very me! Other than that...I get to go home for Christmas and am currently in the middle of one week off. Life is good.

The Time has Come

The time has come now for me to move back to Washington. I am not getting any flying down down here in San Antonio. And as much as I love this family, I do love my own. So I am not moving back home. Hopefully to be moving to New York for an 8 month contracted aerial surveying job. We will continue to pray about it, but that is my goal, to get that job so I can travel throughout the entire US in 8 months...all while flying every day! I think it would be a grand adventure. But yes...thats the plan for now. I leave on Tuesday, Sept 1, so please pray for me as I drive to Phoenix then on to Long Beach the following day! Should be fun...once again!

Sink or Swim?!

Well, since flying is on the rather rare this time of year, I decided to take up another thing that I love. I am teaching private swimming lessons! I have posted some ads on craigslist telling what i do. Luckily people dont know how to swim. So lately I have been doing really well with this. I have 4 different families/people I teach. I even made a new friend out of this. So its nice to finally meet someone who is in the same boat as I am. We became fast friends, and swimming buddies! So thank you for all your prayers but please continue so I can have more students and make some sort of payment of my bills!!!!

Now I have been here for almost a week. I am finally getting all settled in and its feelin like home again! The kids are great and theres nothing better to come home to than a loving family. At the moment, Im totally lovin' the new job. The people are great. So friendly and just like me really. We all are getting alone wonderfully! We actually went out last night together and had a blast! Then over for an "instructors meeting"....yea right...beer and a movie...thats my kinda instructors meeting! And the only girl to boot! :) So today I applied for another job, waiting tables. I am really excited about it and am in hopes of getting it! Seems like it would be great fun! So between flying(not pays well), serving(pay is ok), and giving plasma(my R&R time of the week) I should finally be able to pay some bills...thank you Jesus! Well this is my little update for everyone who was praying for me. I thank you all, but please please PLEASE dont stop because I'm finally doing well....I still need it. Just as much as ever. I am very happy in my job, house and city. I have even found a great church! This is the beginning of a fabulous adventure I'm sure!

After a long 3 day journey thru Idaho, Montana, Idaho again, Utah, New Mexico (I hate that state) and a freakin' long way through Texas, I finally made it to San Antonio! Its HOT! and HUMID! and for the last 2 days there have been huge thunderstorms! SO fun! But I am starting my new job at Sky Safety on Monday! I dont think I have ever been so excited to be living in a city (and with a fab fam) and to start a job. I get to fly new aircraft that ive never flown before and this city is soooooo big, I'm sure I'll find somewhere to fit in and fit in fast. This weekend I get to be with Addie and Dare all by my big girl self. They are too cute and so fun. We a blast swimming all morning. And in the afternoon there was a HUGE storm and Addie and I went out and danced in the rain for about 30 seconds til Addie told me that she wanted to go in cause her skirt was drenched! Too funny! I miss being 4!!! Anyway, off to bathtime and bedtime cause we have church in the morning! Thanks for all your prayers and thoughts. I know I need 'em!

San Antonio or Bust!!!

Thank you all for praying for me. I finally landed a job in San Antonio, TX. I leave on Wednesday and will reach my final destination of my second family on Friday! Less than a week and I am so excited. I have to pack and get on the road. Please continue to pray as I embark on this new adventure and meet new people. This will be great!!!

Biggest Loser!

So none other than my own Mother has forced me to watch the Biggest Loser, but despite the previous resistant attitude I had, I have grown to love it! And last night was the Finale. It was so fun to watch...a 3 hour epi...who coulda asked for more?!?! Well that inspired me to be more active and healthy. I know today is only the first day, but I feel if I let the word out that I am changing I can get the support I need to stay on track as well as maybe encourage others to do the same. One really cool thing about The Biggest Loser is that they are promoting a Pound-for-Pound all across America. You can get onto the Biggest Loser web page and pledge how much weight you are going to lose. And for every pound that you lose, General Mills as well as The Biggest Loser, is going to donate a pound of food to a local food bank! I think its kinda cool! So I hope I can inspire some of you reading this too....ok enough talking...time for a walk!

I am just asking everyone to please pray for me so I can quickly find and start at the right job the Lord wants me to be at. I have a lead in California, and I think that would be great. Time to Give Thanks

So as we all know Florida is a rather far distance from Washington, and a very far ways to go just for Thanksgiving. I am so bummed that I am unable to go home for this great day of over eating cause having the best cook as your mom you could imagine I would gain some weight around this time of year, as most of do anyway. But I have been invited to the second best thing that will be happening in this country on this day. Headed over to a good friends house for football and then dinner. I cannot wait. The next thing I cannot wait to do is make then eat the worlds greatest creamed corn.An old family recipe that will make your taste buds go crazy. So I have a word of advise for the people who cannot be with their families over this awesome day of over eating...make friends and stick by 'em and you too can have an awesome thanskgiving!

Jumpin' Right in

So I found this amazing church after 2 weeks of being here, and I could not be more happy with it. I am now singing on the worship team on Sunday mornings and I am attending the Tuesday night bible study and I have met so many great Christian people here and I am counting my blessings every time I think about that place and those people. Also, I have learned one thing that is so so true and have never really realized it before this. You only get as much out of something as you put in. I decided to put all my eggs in one basket here and its totally working out. I dove in head first and have been covered in blessings everyday from the people I have met. Thank you Jesus for this place and your children here! Praise God!

A new PAD!!!

So I finally found a place to lay my head at night. I found a very cute (and affordable) little studio apartment to abide in while here in VRB (Vero Beach). It is called Pocahontas Apartments! Its a little studio with aqua and white walls. Its all hard wood floors and has 3 large windows! All adorned with curtains. There is a little kitchen with a brand new frige and awesome storage space. Its just perfect for me. What makes it the best is that there is a rather largeg walk in closet. I mean considering the size of the entire place, its large. And the bathroom in lovely too...not the best shower in the world, but bearable! ;) There is ample shelving and drawers also so I have more than enough space for a decluttered place, which is a great thing since its not the largest loving area I have ever lived in before. But perfect for just me and a guest from time to time! Ice cold A/C and a lovely fan too! Located in downtown Vero and close to the airport and beach. I could not have asked for much more! Hope you can come see it sometime!!!

So Lance, my friend that bagged me to move down here (Vero Beach) decided to bolt on me. He is no longer here living with me. Having this come up, leaves me without a "roommate". I do not really want to have a random roomie again, I've already done that....twice...and both times were a flop! Therefore, I am looking for a place of my own. (Should be a mini-adventure within the big adventure) But I am looking for different places and I have decided on one thing. If you think back to some typical movies you watch, you will be able to recall in some, a guy just climbing out of an old crusty wooden boat that he lives in. He has a little bunk/bed kinda thing, a little shower, mini kitchen and a "bathroom area" and thats about it. So remembering that....please close your eyes and think of me in that!!! Ok, so thats where I wanna live. I think "what an adventure that would be" Something totally different and fun! Something I can tell my kids years down the road, I was the fun kid who lived in a boat, and it was a blast! But those are just some thoughts. My only problem is that I do not know where or how to get "involved" with something like that. I mean, seriously, you cant just call up people selling boats and say, "Hi, Im now to town and I was interested in buying your boat, but I was wondering...could you live in it?!" I mean come on now...Let get real! So my question is...What do I need to do, who do I need to talk to in order to live in a boat? Thats what I wanna do!!!! Any suggestions?

5 months, 3 states but 1 final destination!

Since I have graduated, so much has changed in my life. I decided I was gonna be a bum for a month or so. That went well I guess, but thought there might be more to life than just that! So I decided to apply for more jobs all around the country. This is where my trek began. I moved over to Seattle to flight instruct at a very nice place, but really for ideal weather conditions, that was not the place. I know many people told me that before I even moved there, but doesn't grass ALWAYS look greener on the other side?! So at that point, Lance, a buddy from UND, was moving to Vero Beach,Fl to flight instruct at Flight Safety Academy. I talked to him extensively and decided I too could give them a chance. So I interviewed and moved down here all in one big sweep! That was this past Wednesday. It was a very long day, but I made it. Thursday I interviewed and was given the position, which I was so happy for, and since then I have been making more perminite arrangements for housing, transportation and all the other essentials. Tomorrow is the day I actually get to start so that is very exciting. This weekend however, I have met many new people and everyone of them has taken my under their wing, so to speak, and has helped me in some way or another. I am so thankful to everyone I have met so far. Down here in Vero, everyone is so friendly and no one really has family here so we are kinda each others family. I love the atmosphere here at the flight school as well as the city. It is a very small town, but there are quite a few larger cities around as well as the ocean and a ton to do with that too! Always a fan of the ocean. Thank you to everyone who has prayed for me and has helped me in some form or another, nothing has gone unnoticed! It is very far from my family, but I think this move, they will enjoy coming to see me! ;) I have finally pulled up my big girl panties and gotten a great job in a great location and with great people! And I will continue to discover what God has instore for me in the coming months! I love it!

I FINALLY graduated from University of North Dakota. This is such an exciting time in my life. I want to thank the Lord, my parents and all my family and friends who have helped me through it. I would not have ever been able to make it through without all of you...So...THANK YOU!!!

So I am in search for a job...one that I fly and I get paid. Thats all the matters at this point. I need to stay in the air and get some green in my bank account! Anything from flight instructing to FAA to aerial surveying, to charter stuff. Any one have any positions open? I don't care where I will live....I would go anywhere from Alaska to Florida!

Yesterday was one of the best Sundays in Grand Forks I have ever had. I went to church in the morning, then to Dakota Harvest Bakery for a caramel roll. After that I went on a long walk with Lance and Erik...so fun. After our adventures on that walk, the three of us went to a very large field to fly a MASSIVE kite. There I was totally taken advantage of....from the kite. I totally biffed it twice...I was flipped and drug across the pokey grass. It was so funny. I was crying cause I was laughing so hard. It was hilarious!(pictures will come in a day or 2) Then we went driving south of town and looked at all the nice houses. That was fun. Some where in there, we made a DQ run too! So yummy! I got my Chocolate Cherry Love Blizzard! When we got home, I realized how horribly sun burnt I got...that was fun. Then we made turkey burgers and corn on the cob. It was so good. After a nice BBQ we watched a movie...
What a great day! So relaxing and I didn't even have to worry about school or work or anything else...it was awesome. I'm gonna miss days like these when I have to leave Grand Forks in...25 days! ;D I hope everyone else had great Sunday's like mine was yesterday!

Good Bye to Jamison, Dawn, Addie and my baby! I am sad to see you guys go. Its been only a day and I am just wondering what I am going to do without you. When am I gonna get another Braun Burger? What about those yummy concoctions made in the crockpot? Whats gonna happen when i need to talk to you about my problems???? Whether it is about a boy, the weather, school or my future?!?!?! I love you guys so so much and I miss you even more. I want to babysit...I loved my bonding times with Addie...and rockin' that sweet boy to sleep. I miss you all! So I had my first lesson in my last flight course here at UND. I am flying the CRJ-200. It is a fun little jet to be flying. I thought the first lesson was going to be so bad, and I was going to be behind the aircraft the entire time. But despite of what I was thinking, it went really well. So I have very happy about it and wanted everyone to know!

I am now officially a II...meaning a Certified Flight Instructor-Instrument. I can now officially provide flight instruction to a student pilot so they can achieve their private or commercial certificates also instrument students who want to obtain their instrument rating. And I also can provide instruction for an Instrument Instructor applicant (as long as they have their initial CFI cert already). This is a huge accomplish in my book! I'm pretty excited about it!!!

On June 3rd, US Airways flew me out to Charlotte, NC for an interview on June 4th. It was one of the best and scariest times in my life. I was actually having to spread my own wings (fun little pun there) and try to make arrangements for making a living based on what I have been taught over the last 21 years of my life. It was so intense, I loved the suspense of it all, but when it finally came down to it, I was so happy I got the job. I am going to be a First Officer on a DASH-8 100 series and 300 series. I could not be more excited about a job!!!! Thank you for all the prayers and encouragement! I am looking forward to starting a new chapter in my book called life!

My stellar group...Out of Control...all went out to Detroit for the amazing Red Bull Air Races. Kevin, Lance, Alyssa and I got to spend one more amazing weekend together. Too many laughs, friends and just the right amount of drinks, all made for a great time!!! Kevin, Alyssa and I hopped a plane out to Detroit, where Lance lives, after graduating, he moved back home. When we arrived, we went out to breakfast then were off to explore downtown Detroit!!! We checked out Belle Isle, 8 Mile, some lovely bridge, and got some directions to Jeff...Jeff...Jefferson Ave from a nice native man givin' us directions! That night, Friday, the four of us went out to peruse the town...Downtown Toledo...so fun! We headed home and got a lil wild...
Saturday morning getting ready for the races, we found out that the races had been canceled due to high winds. So instead of just bummin' around, we decided to head out to Cedar Point. The worlds largest amusement park. It was a blast!!! After a long day of almost getting thrown out of the park due to a few illegal snap shots on my camera....haha whoops! :S Again...another late evening, 4am as I recall, and a wild time in the pool, we finally got to bed!
Sunday morning rolled around; we got up and headed South to the Canadian boarder. Crossing over the river into Windsor, Canada we saw many fly overs, the pylons and one long stop and go line of traffic!!!
The Races were AMAZING!!!! Did you know that helicopters can fly upside down?!?! It was awesome! We all got some great picts!!!
Heading back on Sunday night was so so sad. We had to leave Lance behind in Detroit, so it sucked! But after checking in and going through a huge line at security, our flight was FuLl!!!! So, we had to call Lance and he came back and picked us up! We went back to his place, chilled out and had..again...a good time!
Up early in the morning to catch a flight back here...to the Grandest of the Forks, we headed to the airport and departed back here. And back to the grind stone!
It was by FaR the BeSt weekend I have had in the LoNgEsT time! I love my friends, they are the best 3 other friends I have EVER had...always there for me, ready to have a good time and not stopping at any boundaries!!!!

FiNaLs WeEk...OuCh

Finals week is this coming week...yuck! I don't know a single person who likes this week of their life. I am so busy. I have four finals and I have to move out of my apartment. Wow...so much to do and never enough time. I have been slowly and systematically packing up my existing apartment in hopes of a smooth transition into my new one with my dear friend Alyssa! We are going to have a BLAST this summer...but only if I get through this week first! :/ EeEk.... Please pray for me that my brain can retain all this information that I need to know and that I can find time to study to my brains fullest capacity! I hate this week every semester it comes around...who invented them anyway...retard...what a dumb idea! But I do suppose we have to exhibit our knowledge somehow. Also to pile onto this week...is a stage check that I have to do. But to my dismay...UND is no longer hiring flight instructors because there are not going to be enough students here this summer. I have a ton of friends that do not have any at the moment and they are considered "full time" instructors...NOT GOOD!!!! Oh well...my lesson now..."When it rains, it pours, so have an umbrella!"

So last week at UND was the SAMA conference. This is when a ton of different companies come in and basically offer all of us jobs in the aviation industry! So I decided it was my time to participate. So I got all dressed up in my business suit (that Mommy had to buy me) and did my "professional hair" and I was off!!! I ended up getting 2 different job offers! One with Great Lake Airlines and one with Naverus....So I now posed with a question! WHICH ONE?!?!?! Ohmigoodness....what am I supposed to be doing? Where will I be living? And then I was thinking...NO SCHOOL IN THE FALL?!?!?! What will I be doing? I have no clue. So my question is....why does life ONLY give you 21 years to make this super hard decision? What the heck?

Stage Check Time~

So I am finally almost done with my CFI (Certified Flight Instructor) course, which only means one thing....Stage Check time! So a stage check is like a final check before the FAA will give you a certificate. So..needless to say they are rather stressful. I have to recall a huge amount of information at any minute. When my examiner asks me a question, I am expected to know the answer and know where to find it and how to teach it to someone who has no freakin clue about what I'm talkin' about! So a bit of pressure. But for me now the time has come where I have two stage checks right in a row.
I the past, I have always freaked out about these things. I never sleep at all the night before a stage check and I turn into a total crazy person. But this time...I had an epiphanie. I decided that who cares! What would be the worst thing that could happen to me? I fail...does anyone die? NO...is anyone in trouble? NO...so why so I freak? I don't know.So I didn't not care about what was going to happen this time. And to my amazement... I passed and I did fine. It was like all the stress was gone. I loved it. It was like the best thing that has every come over me in like my entire life. Just thought you all should know...it was lovely!

I am so darn busy! Jackie (from Spokane) is here in Grand Forks visiting me this week. Its her spring break this week and we are having a great time together! Tonight we are going to the Canad Inns indoor water park with a fun group of people. Out to the airport yesterday and then Cru and TCBY with 13 friends. So fun! I love friends! They are so great. Friends give me the support I need getting through the day! I love them! Thank you Jesus for your blessing of friends!

Last night was a blast....Tons of friends, Fun Fetti cake, chocolate Cadberry eggs, chips and salsa and EASTER EGG DYING!!!! So much fun was had! Ten of us were hanging at my lil' place and dyed 4 dozen eggs. It was so much fun. The 3 girls ( Kristen, Alyssa and myself) were so delicate and perfect with ours and of course the boys were outta control to say the least. Dying then eating the eggs was not in the plan, but that didn't stop 'em. We has a blast. And now, we are all planning on Easter Dinner together and turning those eggs (or a least whats left of them) into yummy egg salad and deviled eggs. Easter is a great time of year. I was so upset when I was unable to go home this year, but these friends have made it definitely ok to spend Easter in Grand Forks! Thanks guys! I love you all! Happy Easter!

Gallevanting around the Counrty today!

SO today I am traveling to San Diego. At the moment I am stranded in PDX....Portland International Airport. So far I've been in Grand Forks...left there at 3am central time, went to Fargo, departed from there, had a stop in the cities, then it was off the the Mountains...>Denver, such a cool airport. After a 2 hour layover there, here I am in PDX for my 4 hour layover....then to San Diego!!! That makes out for an 18 hour travel day...too bad I don't get those in flight hours! ;) Cannot wait to get there. I am doing homework (yeah right!), and I am sleeping! Nothin's better than having an entire row of 3 seats to yourself when flying....YEAH for sleeping all the way!
So keep me in your prayers, that I make it safely and also that my luggage also arrives...after all I am flying on 2 different airlines in 5 different states and 6 different cities! But...YAY for me...WARM WEATHER FINALLY!

Spring Break

Getting a break is always so awesome! I drove home with two great friends and we had a blast. Even though i was driving more on the fast side, it did take forever to get home! It took us around 18.5 hours to get there due to weather early on on our journey and having some other minor delays! But we finally arrived and Mom was happier than ever to see us! We hung out in Spokane a few days, tried to fly, but the weather sucked that day, and then decided to head over and see Seattle. Jared is from Federal Way, so he met up with his family and I picked up Mandy and went to my aunts house for a DELICIOUS supper and stayed the night. Wednesday we went downtown Seattle and met up with another friend from Seattle area who also goes to UND and ate a wonderful lunch on the pier....Ivar's!!!!!!! Can't beat that!!! ;D After a fun day of being in Seattle, which was completely clear and beautiful, the three of us..Jared, Tom and myself, headed back to Spokane for the night and headed back to good ol' Grand Forks early on Thursday morning. We are now back and its so darn cold here. I went from 50 degrees above to 20 below! Not so fun now! But I am back for some R & R before I head off to San Diego on Tuesday night for a conference. Spring Break was a blast. I grew friendships and made new ones, so I couldn't be happier!

So, I was folding my laundry the other day and a friend asked me, "Do you ever get to the clothes on the bottom of the drawer?" I didn't think anything of it and just replied..."yeah". Well later that night I was thinking about that conversation, I so don't get to any of those clothes, and thats when I became inspired.
I cleaned out all of my drawers and refolded all of my clothes...which was a bigger job than I had previously anticipated. From this I hope everyone can get as easily inspired as I was yesterday! It was so refreshing and definitely needed after a long winter!

So I was trying to be a good student and was trying to fly 2 lessons in one day. Something that can be done if you are ready and know your stuff, and if your instructor doesn't have a different student to get to. Well....cause my instructor, Nate William, rocks, I was given the opportunity to do just that. So I left, like usual, and did a lesson on my way up to a smaller airport about 50 miles North of Grand Forks. After practicing some landings, which were rockin' awesome, we landed and parked the airplane to get some sludgy FBO coffee and to debrief before we started doing my next lesson. We did that and chilled for awhile cause it was a beautiful sunny day and the temps were considerable warmer up there....i think it hit 20F that day. We went out the the airplane to get in and go again, and thats when the problem was revealed to me....WE HAD A FLAT TIRE!!! When flying, you cannot fly with a flat tire...it would bend and possibly break the strut. So we had to call back to UND and wait for another airplane to come with a tire. Thats when all the FUN began!!!

I got to walk up and down the runway, see the signs up close, and take tons of pictures...it was the best Sunday afternoon I have ever had! I learned so much about General Aviation, and flying for fun!

SO here it is....I have to be as cool as my Mom, she got a bolgspot so I figured I could get one too...
There's nothing too exciting happenin here in Grand Forks, although it is so darn cold! Whoever decided to settle in GF,ND must have been a crazy person...or they must have come in the spring when it is pretty and mild temp's. When the wind chill is below -50F there is something wrong. There is my venting.
